Dr. Gudrun Bechtloff together with Werner Schierk is founding partner of the firm. She has litigation and consultancy experience for more than 25 years in the aviation business.

Gudrun Bechtloff attended school in Germany and India. From 1976 - 1985 legal studies in Hamburg and Washington D.C. In 1985 admission to the bar in Hamburg.

From 1989 to 1990 she was sole managing director of a Hamburg based airline, operating Fokker 100 and DHC-8-100 and -300 aircraft in scheduled and charter operation.

As lawyer her domain of activity is private and public aviation law, international commercial law and the law of the European Union. Focal points of her work are both litigation and contract consultancy.

Her civil law expertise encompasses all legal issues resulting from aircraft operation, aircraft maintenance, ground handling, labour law and law of damages, the latter both as a result of damage to aircraft and to third parties and passenger claims, as well as subsidies issues, airport fees, security charges and other imposts on aircraft operation. Further, she represents airlines in litigation and arbitration proceedings with regard to all civil law matters, insurance claims, corporate D&O, product and public liability claims including temporary and enforcement matters.

The field of public law expertise includes advice and litigation with regard to administrative orders of the German Ministry of Transport and the Federal Civil Aviation Authority (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt), including e.g. operating licenses, other aviation related approvals and licences, traffic rights, security and other administrative fees.

Her commercial law activities comprise all aviation related matters of trade and commercial law, leasing law, labour law, general terms and conditions, competition and IT-law as well as corporate law.
