Werner Schierk studied law at the universities of Hamburg and Freiburg, Germany. 1975 admission to the bar; thereafter Mr. Schierk joined the legal department of Hapag-Lloyd AG, the German transportation and tourism group, became head of legal affairs of Hapag-Lloyd’s Airline and head of the tax department of Hapag-Lloyd Group.
Since 1983 Werner Schierk is working as an independent professional lawyer mainly in the aviation business. In 1994 he founded with Dr. Gudrun Bechtloff the law firm of Schierk & Bechtloff with offices in Hamburg and Berlin, however Werner Schierk and Dr. Gudrun Bechtloff already worked together in the law firm Dr. Schwarz, Schierk & Partner, specialized in aviation matters, since 1985.
2004 – 2011: Member of the board of deputies with the Ministry of Economics and Labour of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg; and
2006 – 2010: Director of Irish Aircraft Leasing Companies.
